Shotgun Shooting!

Besides the usual outing, we tagged along with a friend of mine from scouting for a trap shooting event using shotgun!

Renee has been keeping up with her 10k trash project by going out and picking up trash on the road side and trail. She has about 6k now.

This is the second hiking event Renee and I did with her new troop. This time there were a lot more scouts coming.

I am not sure if Max will grow to like shotgun. At least for this round, he is still trying to figure out how to position his body.

Renee's aim didn't improve this time. She was actually pretty good at the beginning last time so I was hoping that she can earn the Shotgun Merit Badge with some practice. Maybe it is the way these traps are flying this time, she didn't get as many shots as last time.

During the Thanskgiving weekend, we made a day trip to climb Talmapais. We had some challenges finding the parking spot. So the rest of the family went towards the ocean while I was waiting for a spot to open up.

The weather was great on that day.

Another months of few pictures

It is another months of not that many pictures. Both Renee and Max are super busy with their scouting and other activities though. It is just we are sending them on their own. It is great to have enough adults who can support this. 

• Renee went on a two-night, three-day backpacking trip with her friend Sara, and a couple of scouts in a boy troop. 
• Max went on camping with his troop 805
• Max has been spending a lot of time with Thunder Kungfu Academy to get ready for the big pre-game event

As we transition to Troop 998G, I have picked up the work to revamp the hiking program for the troop. I started with something very casual at Brushy Peak to get a feel for it, followed up by two hiking events in November and December that are more organized.

Max also went to another archery shoot hoping to finish the merit badge. But neither him nor his buddy Boddy got enough score to pass. We will need to train more and try again.

This is the backpacking group that Renee went on during the Halloween weekend.

Month of few pictures

Looking through the pictures, I didn't find as many as I normally would. They have been pretty active, actually. Renee has officially joined Troop 998 and Max' Troop 805 has started outing events. With them being more independent, we try to let them do it themselves.

When a biking event in Troop 805 was canceled, Max' two other buddies in the troop both want to do the biking anyway. So we drop off the three amigos next to the trail and they went for it. Around noon, we arranged to meet at a Boba place and gave them a treat.

I took Max and Renee to a geocache run. I arranged a geocache event at work, so I knew ahead of time where they are.

Max joined the troop camping event. He is the quartermaster for the patrol, so he takes care of the patrol box.
