Boise Trip

The December ended with a good trip to Boise even with the Southwest meltdown and California flood. Our flight to Boise survived, and we stayed there long enough for Southwest to recover. And our plane landed two hours after the storm stopped and the street cleared of flood.

Max is slowly working his way towards the next rank in scouting. This is one of the requirement for Cooking Merit Badge, the last one he needs to earn for the Life Rank.
As the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) of the troop, Renee went to the district event to talk about her troop. She has grown a lot with this role. She call her new speech voice the "SPL voice".

Max has been in the band for many years. We finally decided to buy the saxophone instead of renting it since the beginning. He seems to enjoy it although it is hard to say that he is getting good at it.

Renee attended the dance competition with her dance class. She really enjoys it. So even though it takes a lot of time and it competes with other activities that she need to build up for college application, she has stayed with it.

We went to Boise to visit friends and ski.  The snow got better each time we went up there. We got more familiar with the area and went all over the places.

It was cloudy or snowing most of the time. We had a moment where the sun came out and presented awesome view of the city from the resort.

During the week, we took some break from the ski and visited local sites.

With the fancy espresso machine at our friend's place, Renee became the Brista of the week.

Oahu Trip

Well, we did have lots of pictures to select from for November. But that is mostly due to the trip to Oahu Hawaii

I organized an archery event with Troop 2001 and got Max to go with me. Unfortuantely, we didn't pay enough attention to the distance of the target. So even though he had made really good improvement and become pretty good shooter, we were shooting at 10 yard intsead of 15 yard. But with his record on this day, it will just be a matter of finding another opportunity.

It is picture like this reminding us that Renee is growing into a young adult.

When on the trip, Renee and Max always stay together and hang out.

Here is what they look like when standing next to each other.

We were at a temple and they learned to feed the birds off their hands.

Max even stood up and have birds flying in and out of his hand.

In the evening, Renee went to the beach and took her "tick-tock" pictures. She is not really on those social networks, except Snapchat.

In one evening, Renee went to the swimming pool and chilled out with some drinks.
We also discovered electric sooter and went out for a few rides.

Renee as Eagle Scout!

We don't have nearly as many pictures this month. But we have big news!
Renee made it to the Eagle Rank! This is the day when she submitted the application for Eagle Board of Review. The Eagle Board of Review is mostly no major issues as long as you treat it seriously. But since it is the end of a long journey, it is hard not to stress out a bit. Renee handled it pretty well, though, including in the end they were pretending to ask her to wait until she is older.

Max did another Kungfu performance. This time they had a dragon to play with.
